A follow up post to my first post about female empowerment in songs. The song "Superwoman" by Alicia Keys from her album "As I Am". "Superwoman" is a song I believe that it has a message that can help women in times of need. Whenever you have had a long day or you need a little pick me up. This song has a positive message that can help women to have more confidence. No this song doesn't have a similar theme to the other songs. About how men treat women sometimes. It's more of a song of encouragement to those who raise children, those who face many challenges physically, mentally, and emotionally. Also those who go through any stressful times. It's a song to uplift your spirit and I recommend that if you haven't heard it on the radio, the internet, or your friend's ipods, itouchs, or i-phones. Listen to the song you can dedicate to your mother, friends, sisters, cousins, aunts, nieces, girlfriend,or your wife. "Superwoman" will help bring out the fighter in you and help you fight all the battles or problems that come against you.

Songs with message about female empowerment
I was listening to some new music from Beyonce on the radio and it occurred to me that there is a new theme in music now. Beyonce's new single "If I were a Boy" and her second hit "Single Ladies" both seem to have a reoccurring theme. The song "If I were a boy" is very reminiscent of "Like a Boy" by pop/ crunk and b star, Ciara. The songs have a similar message. You get hurt and your scorned yet you would rather be a boy or man to make him feel the same pain you do when you deal with him and what they cause you to go through. It's interesting that women now want to become men or have that type of control. Both women have a similar take and outlook women should feel empowerment and strength. I believe they are right but why would want to be a man when you can actually just be yourself and still get some revenge as well.
