The cast heading on stage in one scene. |
Hello my readers…I am sure you probably wonder what does the
ladylike, classy dame, Honey Brown Sugar, know about NWA (Niggaz with
Attitudes). Believe it or not I am a big Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg fan
lol!!!! All three of them are connected to the group NWA and I grew up
listening and hearing their music on the radio and playing it. I have a lot of
respect for these natural born entertainers and businessmen. I have a lot of
information for you all I just found out my dear stepfather actually was
working with them back in the day in the late 80s and early 90s. He even worked
on some of the projects of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre as well. I love how they are telling this story
you get to go back in to the late eighties and early nineties of how the group
first formed, how the group broke into the business, the rise of their group,
the controversy they had to deal with in group against the government, the
explicit lyrics, the violence, the threats against law enforcement like with
songs like “F**k the Police”. These songs often caused issues with many people
especially conservative audiences.
The one thing I respect about the group they are the pioneers of: ”gangsta
rap”. You have different genres of hip hop/rap music but its still all under
the same umbrella and category. You have different points of views, different
ways of life from all of these men. So I am going to let you in on the film and then were going to talk about
what everyone is up to now in the 21st century and with this movie
coming out.
All right so NWA, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg fans, the movie is
produced by of course O’Shea Jackson Jr. better known to you all as “Ice Cube”,
Dr. Dre, and the widow of “Eazy-E”,
Tomica Woods-Wright, Will Packer
Productions, and Matt Alvarez. “Straight Outta Compton” film is directed by
music video producer, film director, F. Gary Gray he directed Ice Cube’s
“Friday” (1995) and the film “Set It Off” (1997). The film stars Ice Cube’s son, “O’Shea Jackson, Jr.” Jason
Mitchell as “Eazy-E”, Corey Hawkins as “Dr.Dre”, the film also stars Aldis
Hodge, Brandon La Fourche, Marlon Yates Jr., Paul Giamatti, Corey Reynolds,
Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, Drumline: A New Beat, and X-Men:
Apocalypse (2016), Keith Stanfield as Snoop Dogg, R. Marcus Taylor as Suge
Knight, Sheldon A. Smith as the smooth cool, Warren G., Carra Patterson as
Tomica Woods (Eazy-E’s wife), and Marcc Rose as the late great lyricist and
poet Tupac Shakur. Now the movie
was shot directly in Compton, California where everything first got started. A
little interesting and crazy real life fact during production of the film there
was a drive by while the cast was filming but no one was injured or hurt thank
god! So there was true authenticity to the film of where all of these men grew up,
live, developed their passions for music, production, rapping, and writing. You
will see the story of how the group first came together around 1986 and how
they formed. Also how the group disbanded and what happened after their solo
careers as well. Now before you go see this film with your friends and family. You
can learn about what these gentlemen have been up to since the “N.W.A” days.
