"In those jeans"....

I just went to Strawberry one of my favorite stores, I was rushing like crazy it was an emergency actually but I really needed to change my clothes at the time. This was recently a couple weeks ago back in August. Now while I was changing my clothes inside the fitting room in

the Midtown Strawberry ,  I found this cute top, grabbed some jeans on sale for like $16.99 in my size and they fit me like a glove, they were long enough, and they weren’t any fancy designer jeans. I have bought a pair of those actually. I remember buying a pair of $57.00 Baby Phat jeans with the money I used from working at a law firm. I felt so proud back then to be making money and buying things I can afford on my own. Now back to the jeans. These jeans fit me like a glove, every curve, I have 40 inch hips yes your girls not a “petite one”. Lol I am 5 foot 7 inches tall but yes I have hips and curves thankfully to my mom, grandma Carlene, and genetics. Lol so jeans make a woman feel proud, courageous, sexy, daring, in charge, and most of all confident. She can dress her jeans down and be casual, she can look sporty, she can look girly and feminine, or hot and  sexy, or stylish and sophisticated. Jeans and denim washes come in all different shades of blue from a light sky blue wash to a deep indigo blue. The jeans can have studs, rhinestones, diamonds, glitter, sparkles, come in all different colors, and more.

I have jeans by many different brands from all over but one pair of jeans. I have probably had over 30 pairs of jeans I believe.  I think of every pair I have ever worn, may have created shorts with them or capris. I have figured out a way to get creative with them all of the time. The best pair of jeans for me are the ones I feel curvy in them. Now I am tall especially in my heels that will boost me to 5’11” or six feet. So for me if I need a long jean or a boot cut jean it needs to cover 4 areas for me my hips, my thighs, my behind, and my legs. I need jeans that will have some spandex. I need a pair that will accentuate every part of me. A pair of jeans that I feel comfortable with at all times and I don’t go over my budget. The most I would ever spend shopping on a pair probably $150.00. if they are worth it that’s how much I would spend. The least I have spent is $10.00. yes I have bought 10 dollar jeans and at the time they were tight and fit me like a glove but didn’t cover my ankles the way I like though. I think another favorite pair has to be these jeans I bought from Charlotte Russe the curvy cut I probably got them for 25 dollars at the mall but loved how they made  me feel completely comfortable owning my femininity and embracing my womanhood. I love jeans that say “Yes I am a female, I have curves, and I own it”.  Those I still have too…now the last pair of jeans I would consider lucky.

I bought these jeans at Xoxo a long time ago I don’t know how I remembered these jeans but its funny how memories come back to you sometimes. I was about 16 I loved these jeans I don’t know what happened they may have become too tight and outgrew them. They were a lightwash, with rhinestones, red, pink, and clear. With a rose stitched on them. I fell in love with those jeans and wearing those jeans too. I met a couple of guys in those jeans, kissed them, and they became my lucky jeans. Every time I wore them something fantastic happened. Lol! I promise you. That’s how you want to feel when you wear your jeans that something amazing will happen to you that day and night. You may receive compliments, you may get a great lunch, dinner, go out and party with your girlfriends, or may get lucky and the jeans can come off lol! But either way every woman deserves to have a pair of jeans no matter what shape or size that fits her like a glove to a  perfect “t”. I suggest

1.     A Tailor

2.     A measuring tape

3.     Knowing your body and what works for you

4.     Your favorite wash of jeans from light to dark (HINT: Dark washes always look great especially in the evening).

5.     Know your budget

6.     Know your body shape and type

7.     Remember the store

8.     Ask for jeans that will fit you by height and width

9.     Bring a pair of heels and flats or try on at home

10. Make sure you remember where you got them in case you need a replacement.

Now when you find your perfect jeans go ahead and show them what you’re working with and take plenty of photos. Own it and treasure the moment. Jeans and styles change but the materials stay the same. So find your jean when you can right away.

The "T-Shirt"

You know on a personal level....it's funny my mom asked me the other day why do you want to go to the library apparently because I have to connect and write to you all right? That's why my readers lol....so here's a funny little story about "someone special"....I have a t-shirt that  is red and blue. Well its a red shirt and has blue lettering on the front with the school the love of my life attended. You want to know the truth behind this little t-shirt. It’s crazy but so funny actually.

I was dating someone with the same name as him. I happened to be in Washington, D.C. because as you know I used to live there and grew up there from the time I was 41/2 to 10 years old. So I was in town visiting that guy with the same name. The 1st guy I dated with the same name as him was in town from his hometown and we were there for Howard University’s homecoming. I wanted to go but it was pouring raining like crazy that weekend. It was odd and weird. So since we weren’t able to watch the whole homecoming this was in 2009. We ended up running into a bookstore. So I grabbed a t-shirt and bought it. I wore it and didn’t realize the next time I would wear that t-shirt I would be kissing and with a man with the same name but different spelling who attended that college.

n and was handsome with a wide smile. A man who I would fall in love with too. I keep thinking how funny I thought it would be to show him the t-shirt like it was a deep connection. A reason why I bought that shirt. Now every time I wear  it I smile and think of every moment with him. I think of how he proudly graduated from there. How he is so successful and driven. Its funny I was supposed to attend that college and applied as well. In 2003 my senior year of high school. I didn’t make it back then but I definitely would have wondered would our paths still cross? I got accepted to Hampton University actually and you know Hunter College.  I think they would have actually if I had been accepted to that college, successful, attended, and if we began spending time back then it probably would have happened. So many things I remember about him, I try to forget but its not easy with reminders all of the time. Plus not just that but it just reminds me the first time we were close together, intimate moments, and how I just felt like wearing and buying that t-shirt may have been the best purchase ever.  Funny how something so simple as a t-shirt can have an impact on your memory and heart. I am going to tell you the t-shirt I still have and will probably wear it again when I see this man again. Packing it away and excited to slip it on.  It makes me feel good knowing hey I was with a man who was one of the students who was the head of his class.

            He has accomplished and reached his goals, when I think of some of those days and nights seeing him work relentlessly, or him texting me telling me he was editing or he was working to accomplish a goal, I admire him, I never said a word at all I wasn’t surprised he would accomplish those things at all. He’s driven and has a way of going after whatever he truly desires.  That T-shirt has given me a reason to keep it a little longer.  Included a couple songs about "T-Shirts" thought it would be funny lol...=)

"The Perfect Guy" will haunt you...apparently the film debuts Friday, September 11th

He will also star in the upcoming film, “The Best Man Wedding” in 2016. The Perfect Guy is also starring Charles S. Sutton,Rutina Wesley, and Holt McCallany .             The film looks like a great date night film for you looking for something fun to do this up and coming weekend.  I suggest you go see it if it’s as great as “No Good Deed” you are in for a hell of a story then with this film.  Make sure you go see the film and see who wins Leah heart will it be the villain or the hero? I cannot wait to see it and hope you will too. Beware for those guys who look a little too good to be true ladies you know what I am talking about. The “perfect guys” (I am being facetious when I use that term here) The who throw you curve balls and red flags right away running up your credit, messing with your best friend, or playing disrespecting you physically or mentally (you know the type) .  Look and pay attention to all of those warning signs. Demi Lovato's a tall skyscraper who's very Confident who's had a super cool summer!!!!

I first heard Demi Lovato’s song “Skyscraper” about four years ago in 2011 from “Unbroken” album her third album. I fell in love with the lyrics and there was something extremely powerful about the meaning that can resonate with any human being. As a woman who lives in a city full of skyscrapers in New York we know how a 

building can be built high reaching the stratosphere and how it can disintegrate into dust, twisted metal, and debris. The song is about no matter what negative feelings or opinions you may have of another individual you must have thick skin and be able to deal with the personal challenges and struggles you face every day. We often see the glamour of a celebrity, we see the make up, the beautiful stylish pulled together outfits, the limousines and SUVs dropping them off at red carpet events, them dining at fancy restaurants, and cameras flashing with fast men running around squandering and squatting taking pictures of the latest “It Girl” and Famous faces. We don’t see what their daily beasts are behind the scenes. The personal issues they face day after day. I loved Demi Lovato’s story, her honesty, something about her I could identify with struggling with self-acceptance a popular theme in any young woman’s life. Accept you don’t deal with it on a large public scale where people can critique you behind a computer screen, behind a camera lens, and even right in front of your face too.

            She has dealt with many personal battles, drug addiction, self- mutilation, and weight or body image issues. These are topics that are not easy to discuss at all and I admire her for even opening the door for people who struggle and deal with those issues personally themselves. She also was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2010 after an incident with a background dancer she checked immediately into rehab and got on the right track. I believe her learning to accept herself, going to rehab, counseling, and therapy. Giving her self completely in her music and all of her major accomplishments allowed her to heal all of her wounds physically and metaphorically before she was fully ready to commit to a healthier, happier, fulfilled Demi Lovato. I haven’t read her book yet but can only imagine that it will tell the story of a young woman who struggled and dealt with many tests and battles but came out completely on top. She has done so much for people all across the world telling her story. She was one of the judges on Fox’s “The X Factor” and was assigned to mentor aspiring musicians across the country and critique them on the show battling head to head against thousands of hopeful winners. Her strength and perseverance along with her determination allows her to continue fighting on and she pushes through.

            So with that said let’s talk about “Confident” this is her fifth studio album and she is in a great place, new fit figure, new sexy modern 2000s look,  and she looks like she is coming into her own as a young 23-year-old woman who recently just turned 23 on August 20^th. Opening up more about her sexuality, feeling liberated, and she looks and feels more free.  I believe she’s a very mature 20-something about someone who has battled many different storms you grow up quickly and you become wiser fast, smarter, and learn powerful and some painful lessons too. Not just that but just her political views as well on social issues she is open to people of all walks of life and backgrounds. On this album I feel like it’s the breakout of the woman of Demi Lovato. She’s leaving behind her Disney television days , the teeny bopper image and now she is stepping into her womanhood and owning it battle scars and all. Her first single “Cool for the Summer” has been the 2015 anthem of the summer playing across television shows, the radio on heavy rotation on dance and pop radio stations across the country and world.  She is showing people that she’s ready to soar and break out as an artist.  I believe this is the side America may have been wanting to see we know what she can do vocally she has 3- octave range and incredible pipes.  I heard Demi’s voice on “Neon Lights” and “Heart Attack” I knew this woman has got it! Incredible voice she has hit some notes that shows she has soul and has some power in it as well. Season 2 of Empire: Bow Down All Hail the Lyons.

They are back!!!!.. Wednesday nights are on fire again with televisions musical hip hop and R&B family taking over with “Empire”. Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollet, Bryshere “Yazz” Grey, the newly engaged Grace Gealey and Trai Byers, Gabourey Sidibe, and newly engaged, Kaitlin Doubleday, Malik Yoba, and the whole cast will be back with many star studded faces for the second astounding and exciting season.  The cast has been on hiatus traveling doing insane promotion discussing the season, magazine shoots, did you all see the Essence magazine June 2015 issue with all three h

andsome faces of the Lyon Brothers from the cast? Or did you see This season is prepared to top the first looking for many faces we have wanting to see on the screen with the cast this fall.  The season will pick up from where we left off with Lucious Lyon in jail along with Cookie. Then it will focus on who will take over Empire Records along with all of the many twists and turns we may not have seen coming.  There is also a new cast member who will premiere and be on the October 7^th episode her stage name is “Bre-Z” she’s originally from Philadelphia and a Brownsville, Brooklyn native as well.  They call her the “Queen of 16 Bars” cause can spit verses like no other and she will be going head to head with the cast playing “Freda”. The line up for the cast has Marisa Tomei will star on an episode as Mimi Whiteman, Chris Rock, Pitbull, Mariah Carey, and many many surprises guests will be on season 2 is just part of the line up. The season starts off with Lucious Lyon in jail after the FBI has found out about his involvement with Bunky’s death and his past mistakes as well. Also Andre will head back into Empire Records with assisting his father’s business and helping Jamal as well managing and running the company. How will this all play out?
