"In the Heights" movie will kick off summer 2020

I saw the preview for this movie and was so excited to see it. I remember when I went to Times Square to see this show live. I saw it in person summer 2009 and I have been a fan of his since. He has done an incredible job with Hamilton the Broadway musical, and his career has changed and opened door for so many theater actors, dancers, singers, and writers. I loved the musical because it definitely reminded me of the times I have visited Washington Heights or even the Bronx. It was so New York it just sucked me in and I loved it actually.

Ladies and Gentlemen you are all in for a musical treat this summer. This summer “In the Heights” by Lin Manuel Miranda well officially have the green light and will have his first featured film brought to theaters. For all of my theater and live performance lovers this is huge. This unique, beautiful, original, and diverse play has touched billions around the world. It has been running for the last 15 years first premiered as an off-broadway play production and three years later debuted in March of 2008. I saw it the summer of 2009 and I remember being so proud walking out of the theater in Times Square. I bought a t-shirt with the in the heights logo. Now that it will become a live action film. It has stories that all of us can relate to about dreams, about community, relating to one another, about family, friendship, love, and unity. It is a story that features a diverse cast from every background and one that everyone can relate to this film. Miranda he wrote the original screenplay when he was in college in 1999. So he performed it for his Wesleyan University student theater production team originally. He discussed his growing up and his experiences. He added hip-hop lyrics and beats to add some flavor to it and spice. The next thing luck stepped in for him and he was approached  to see if the play could be expanded into a Broadway play. 6 years later and everything fell into place for him and the rest is history.  Miranda has been nominated for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Director of a Musical, Outstanding Choreography, Orchestration, Best Musical, received Tony Awards for Best Performance, Best Scenic Design, Best Sound Design, a Pulitzer Prize, Best Musical Show Album, Best Costume Design, Best Set Design. In the summer of 2009 PBS also aired an episode of the “In the Heights Special: Chasing Dreams” to show a behind the scene glimpse and look at life for all of the actors, actresses, production crew, and what it takes to make the show work behind the scenes. Miranda has done a phenomenal job with creating originality in the theater industry. There’s no false, nothing duplicated, or similar at all. His stories have been real, relatable, and he’s touched generations of fans with his musicals. He believes in telling an original story that relates to the public and touches all of our hearts, souls, and minds.  I hope all of you will go see In the Heights it left an impression on me when I went to see it. If they ever brought it back again I would definitely go again to watch and will be there this summer 2020 to see it in theaters. Very excited for this one is going to open doors for all of the cast. Last but certainly not least is Jimmy Smitts (Star Wars III, The Jane Austen Club, Backyard, Mother and Child, The Get Down, Brooklyn Nine-Nine,  How to get away with murder, Rogue One, Who we are now, well known television and film actor will be starring in In the Heights) and makes an appearance.

            Everyone is so excited and so pumped to see the movie I personally wouldn’t mind going back to see the play again first before seeing the movie. Loved it and I hope all of the fans will come out and will see this film this summer. I have written about him before he is an actor, a songwriter, a philanthropist, a singer, and now a father to an adorable little boy Noah who was just born in spring of 2019 last year. There is something about Calvin the character on the show that showed African American men in a light where you see he had a great relationship with his parents who were together for a long-term marriage. I liked that about the character he was “the-boy-next door” who wasn’t the perfect son but was very relatable and down to earth. Now Lance Gross the man and actor has evolved displaying his acting chops in many different projects “Our Family Wedding”, “Deuces” “Temptation”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Star”, you can see the versatility in him as actor. Larenz Tate Zodiac Sign: Virgo- born September 8, 1975-Chicago, Illinois, television and film actor Height: 5’7” you know him as “O Dog” from Dead Presidents, The Inkwell, Menace to Society, Why do fools fall in love, Crash, Love Jones, Ray, Deuces ….Larenz has always been a crush of mine because of his swag, personality, and confidence. I loved the vulnerability and depth he displayed when you watch him in this movie….there’s no more Larenz there you see him as an actor playing someone with flaws, vulnerable, emotional, and just this sweet kid articulating his emotions. He’s a character full of heart and you see it in this film he’s just a good teenager who wants to be respectful and see his parents together. Watch him in all of his films you’ll see why this man should never be slept on at all. He brings every character to life in different ways.

5.    Derrick (Jackson) Jaxn-Zodiac Sign: Cancer –July 4, 1989-Yonkers, New York , athlete, writer, poet, You Tuber, Philanthropist, “The Love Ambassador”, and Entrepreneur  Height: 6’5” . Ok I love a renaissance man and this gentlemen definitely has the confidence, spark, he’s witty, funny, can be facetious at times, but he knows how to be open and real with you. I fell in love with his YouTube channel about 3 years ago in the summer of 2017. Derrick came into my life when I needed to repair my heart after a crazy break up and job loss. I had a crazy year and his YouTube channel was one of the best channels that came into my life. He’s definitely in my top 5 I watch like crazy taking his advice gems along the way. He reminds me you’re valuable, precious, worth so much more than what the average man or woman may think they are worth. So when this You Tube channel came in it was one of those miracles I was happy to witness that year. So Derrick who is now a father and husband. Ladies trust and believe this young man is one of those people you need his honest and real advice. 6.    Justin Randall Timberlake Zodiac Sign: Aquarius-January 31, 1981, Actor, Singer, Songwriter, Entrepreneur, Television Producer, Fashion Designer-Memphis, Tennessee Height: 6’2”. Okay all of the millennial ladies the 80s babies who remember when N’SYNC came out and when Justin went solo with “Justified” was a time we will never forget. The Blue-Eyed Soul gentlemen has evolved completely as an artist and more. Was just watching one of his films recently and was just a reminder of where he came from and where he has evolved from as a child performer. He has a way of capturing you in his lyrics, he writes original songs that you just get right away. I think since that first album he got me hooked on his music. I have been a fan of his since I was about 12 but when he went solo definitely thought it was a genius idea that he wanted to try a few solo projects on his own you got to see his skills and his exposure to music. He’s not just involved in the lyrics and production he really has an incredible ear and loves live performances of all instruments. I have too many favorite songs by him. 

7.     David Jude Heyworth Law stage name (Jude Law) Zodiac Sign: Capricorn-born December 29, 1972, Actor, Lewisham, London, England Height” 5’10”. “Hey Jude”…I am sure I am not the only woman who has probably made that joke to the Englishborn gentlemen. Ok what’s it about Jude…..star presence, his blue eyes, the smile. I saw him in “Alfie” it was a 21^st century remake of the classic film from the 1960s and then I saw him in “Closer” and then “The Holiday” was the movie that really made my crush strong and solidified. I saw “Finesse” I believe I was watching “The Real” and was instantly hooked on this handsome Gemini. I saw him on “Desperate Housewives” and wanted to know “Who is this man?” you’ve seen him in many different television series and film projects. He just did an incredible performance on Netflix with Tyler Perry’s “A Fall from Grace”. He was unrecognizable within the film you wouldn’t know it was him at all. He engulfed himself in this role.

I saw him I believe in a film called “Dysfunctional Friends” actually about 8 years ago and was instantly drawn to him right away. All of the ladies cannot keep their eyes off Christian. He is another performer you can’t see him just as a good guy in his roles. He versatile as well he can bring a lot to his roles and offer different sides of personalities and more. Born in West Philadelphia the superstar who has evolved from a Grammy Award winning rap/hip hop artist and songwriter to a Oscar nominated actor. When you look up the definition versatile virtuoso that’s the best way to describe “Will Smith” the actor and performer. He has starred in a ton of hits and I fell in love with this gentlemen I am going to say when he was a 22-year-old kid performing on a little show called, “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”. I knew ok I want a guy like him when I grew up on an episode he had with Nia Long. I was like “Ok, yes I need a guy like him when I grow up” charming, funny, giving, loving, and social butterfly. He has a way of transforming himself into a role he often says it takes some time to shake off a role for him. He has to give himself a chance to get back to the Will we all love if it’s role that requires more insight and depth. We love Will and when he’s just the funny, talented, and swaggerific man. 12. Henry Ewan Golding television and film actor, model, born February 5, 1987 Zodiac Sign: Aquarius, born in Betong, Malaysia Height: 6’1”. He’s got the good lucks that make all of the ladies swoon and I believe he is another actor who doesn’t want to subject himself to one role to be typecast. He believes in versatility and showing all sides of what it takes to be a great actor. I saw Henry in “Crazy Rich Asians” and all of the ladies wanted to be Constance Wu in this film he was romantic, charming, adorable, and just had a presence of a royal Asian king. Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofatey- Kodjoe television and film actor, philanthropist, model, born on March 8, 1973 Zodiac Sign: Pisces born in Vienna, Austria Height: 6’4”. Ok I have talked about Boris a couple of times I had the pleasure and honor of seeing his queen, Nicole Ari Parker in person when she was performing on Broadway during a press junket for “Cat on a hot tin roof” and was just stunning in person. Boris has been one of my crushes since I was probably about 15 I am going to say when Soul Food on Showtime and whenever I see him in a film or television project everyone in my house knows so I am there to watch. He’s also philanthr and a humanitarian giving back to charity and assisting with his organization to support babies and children who were born with spina bifida is one of the causes that will pull everyone’s heart strings. By the way he multilingual speaker speaking French, German, English, and I believe Swahili as well. So ladies now you see why he’s on this list. He’s an international speaker he can talk to you in several love languages.

14. Ismael Enrique Cruz Cordova, film, television, and stage actor, Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico born on April 7, 1987 Zodiac Sign: Aries I saw this handsome gentlemen in the film, “Miss Bala” came out last winter in 2019 and he stole the show opposite Gina Rodriguez. He has the captivating presence on the big screen and you really believe him in a role. He has star quality in a big way in that role. So look out for Ismael definitely would love to see him crossover into all genres of films in the future.

I have had a crush on him probably since I first saw him doing a live broadcast on television he was covering a story probably during the 2008 election and always thought he was very handsome. Not only that but as an aspiring journalist you always look for inspiration everywhere and he definitely has the confidence, swag, and intellect to cover any great story to the public. Men like him make women like me realize there’s so much more than the physical package you need someone to debate and discuss different topics with in the end. You can figure out how to be a power couple and solve the world’s problems together. He is the kind of man you can challenge each other.

16. Klay Alexander Thompson born February 8, 1990  in Los Angeles, CA Height: 6’6” Zodiac Sign: Aquarius, professional basketball player. This handsome cutie is a shooting guard and one of the best in the NBA he was a 2011 NBA draft pick for Golden State Warriors, 3 time champion of the NBA Finals in 2015, 2017, and 2018, NBA Three-Point Contest Champion in 2019, and NBA  All Defensive Second Team. He is also very generous supporting and raising money to assist the 2017 California wildfires and other charities behind the scenes. He is an avid chess player and has met with chess world champions too. It turns out someone in my family actually knows his family and his a slight connection. So you never know lol just need to open up the right door on that one.

17. The late great, Paul Walker (September 12, 1973-November 13, 2013) he was a Virgo and 6’2 inches tall. He will always be bae to me lol those Aquamarine blue eyes….I have had a crush on him since I was about 12 since “Varsity Blues” and “the Skulls” came out so you can imagine when Fast and Furious the franchise started lost my damn mind lol. There is a picture of me about age 14 and yes I was that girl I had a wall full of pictures on my bedroom wall of all my favorite celebrities. I still have a crush on him and may name one of my pets after him “Walker” or after one of his characters in a film.

18.  Robert Christopher Riley born October 11, 1980, an American film and television Trinidadian actor, from Brooklyn, New York Height: 6’2” Zodiac sign: Libra. I noticed Robert in the 2016 movie, “Perfect Match” starring Cassie and Terrence J. He played one of Terrence’s best friends in the film and he definitely stood out to me. He had great comedic timing in the film and of course the ladies know very easy on the eyes. Robert is currently on CW and Netflix’s hit revival of “Dynasty” and will be in many up and coming roles in the future.

19. Terrence Jenkins aka “Terrence J” born April 21, 1982 zodiac sign: Taurus Queens, New York Height: 5’10” television, radio, former E Entertainment and BET entertainment reporter, and actor. Terrence wears many hats I think I had a crush on him when I saw him on 106 and Park but it got more serious when he switched over to E Entertainment.  I can’t lie when I saw him in the movie “Perfect Match” Terrence kind of got me there was something about seeing him in a different light on screen. You didn’t see him as a reporter anymore you kind of saw the real him a vulnerable, cool, and creative side of him. There’s something about him in that role where many ladies probably wanted to be his girlfriend.

20.Lamman Rucker, born October 6, 1971, Pittsburgh, PA Zodiac Sign: Libra. I noticed Lamman on the television hit show, “Meet the Browns” but I noticed him in other films and television projects too. I saw him in one movie, “The Man in 3B” and “Why did I get married 1 and 2” and I think we all wanted him to rescue us and be our sheriff ever since he was in the film. Wendell Ramone “Jay” Ellis, television, film actor, and model born: December 29, 1981  Zodiac sign: Capricorn, Height: 6’2” I first saw him on the BET hit television show, “The Game” he followed up with a huge HBO television series, “Insecure” starring breakout actress, Issa Rae. He will also be a part of the 1987 remake, “Top Gun” which comes out this summer 2020. Jay Ellis was recently asked about his role on “Insecure” in an interview SSENSE and I loved his responsible how the millennial African American role has evolved for actors. How African American men are reflected and how they can let their guard down. They don’t have be depicted as just killers, kidnappers, thugs, they can let their guard down and can be more exposed to other roles. They can be college students, business owners, doctors, athletes, and other professions whether they are performing or strive for that goal in real life. So he understands the importance of writing a great character for a television project and role is important especially for the younger audience who look to emulate people on television.

22. Cullen Andrew Jones born in the Bronx, New York on February 29,1984 height: 6’4” Zodiac Sign: Pisces    Olympic swimmer. I actually found out about Cullen Jones online on myspace. (Jesus I can’t believe how long ago that was…) but Cullen is extremely handsome, articulate, classy man but you can tell he knows how to have fun as well. Cullen has swag, he’s smooth, articulate, and he’s the guy you can bring home to any festivity or event. He’s well traveled and worldly. Plus he can just be down to earth too.

I spotted Channing Tatum in the film “Coach Carter” but he really took me for surprise in the film, “Step Up” in 2006 he starred in the role who would become his future wife, Jenna Dewan and he has taken us all for a ride with this massive franchise. Step Up is probably another one of the biggest dance franchises I have seen other than with his other huge roles he has been in “21 Jump Street”, “22 Jump Street” “Dear John”, “Magic Mike 1 and 2” he killed that role which led to Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas is still going actually and grown ladies can see a live performance in person. Channing some ladies call “White Chocolate” because of his confidence, stature, and presence. Make sure you stay tuned and look out for more films in the future with this handsome blue eyed soul.

24.  Courtney Burrell born August 20, 1986 actor, model from North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Height: 6’2 Zodiac Sign: Leo he has starred in television, films, and commercials you may have seen Courtney throwing free throws playing basketball and didn’t even realize this up and coming star would be performing in a Tyler Perry hit film. Courtney signed up in a role to play one of the sons in Tyler’s last Madea film, “A Madea Funeral” in 2019. She was America’s sweetheart the young teenage pop star who came out in the late 1990s along with her former cast mates of the Mickey Mouse Club era, she inspired all of us with her truth and honesty about abstinence and waiting until marriage. We all were so proud of how bold she was and forthcoming she was about sticking to her morals and values. Her father was a pastor and he encouraged both her and her sister, Ashlee to stick to their morals and religious upbringing. Even when it came to entering the music industry. They were very conservative with their upbringing and how they wanted to be scene to the public as recording artists in the pop industry. Jessica broke out on the scene with her first music video on MTV with 2000s, “I want to love you forever” she was standing in a jean jacket white tube top, white jeans, and she displayed the all American good girl image. However in an industry that knows what sales and how to spark attention to the public she tried to adapt to what her fellow artists were presenting in their videos at that time too. Remember Jessica Simpson came right in underneath Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and other pop/R&B groups and musicians who were being encouraged to show more skin in their videos or promotion during the 2000s pop explosion. It is amazing how the pop princess who would say silly things on television was hiding and masking some terrible pain behind closed doors.

The follow up to Jessica’s debut album came out her next single, “Where You Are” ft. 98 degrees member, Nick Lachey and would become Jessica’s husband later was the next song featured. Little did any of us know that right after their music video debuted they were getting ready to enter marriage and what would become the start of a new genre of television reality television shows featuring major celebrities. Jessica and Nick became one of the first newlywed couples to be featured on MTV. They married on October 26, 2002 Jessica was 22 and Nick Lachey was 30. I was a fan of the show tuning in weekly when I was probably (15-18) when the show as on MTV. I loved her music and her as an artist I actually wish she had gone further with her music career because she could have crossed –over into more dance pop, country actually. She took a backseat from music to focus on her other talents creating and launching a huge fashion label and business. I have worn a few Jessica Simpson products myself. So when you see her name you cannot forget that this woman is and has built a multi-million dollar industry for herself. I remember hearing the backlash in the media about them believing that she wasn’t that intelligent, not that sensible when the show debuted there were mixed reviews. They instantly became household names to everyone after the show debuted. They forget she while she was on the show how young she actually was and when she met Lachey she was only 18. Jessica mentions in her book how she was sheltered by her father who was also part manager as well. Jessica’s image was based on what she wanted her fans to perceive her as wholesome, sweet, and the good girl. She maintained that image but in a way it backfired a bit when she dabbled into the film industry. She needed to compete against the women who were coming into the music industry at the same time as her as well. Compete in a friendly music competition way in terms of producing and making great music.   

Jessica’s story should be told she actually saved journals she had been writing since she was fifteen years old and collected other writings all the way up until her adulthood journaling and detailing stories. Jessica’s story needs to be told because so many women can relate to her story of struggling with addiction to alcohol, body image issues, relationship struggles where you feel your partner and you are not uniting or connecting.   Jessica shares some experiences she felt with some of her past suitors after she separated and divorced Nick Lachey in 2007. They have remained the best of friends and wish each other well and have gone on to have very successful careers and marriages. It's great to hear her expose and tell the real truth about her journey and story.

I love the fact she’s not sugarcoating anything within her truth she’s being honest, real, and forthcoming about it all. She wants her fans to know what was happening behind the cameras, the lights, the television shows, the music and fashion career. She’s exposing herself in a way that many people can often find liberating and refreshing. So are you all ready to read and listen to her story and journey beyond the television screen. I am I believe we are in a new era where people are more comfortable with revealing themselves and their truths. They want to feel free and own what God has blessed with them and who they are as a whole. It takes a lot to get to the point where you feel that kind of freedom.
