There’s a new matchmaker in town for Fox TV Networks” get ready for Coupled Up this May

Hello my beautiful and handsome readers I saw this show and instantaneously became interested. Many of you know I am part of the Bachelor/Bachelorette nation. I love a great reality produced television show. Now you get to see a new one come to Fox this time. I don’t remember them taking on too many matchmaking shows this time they are making it for the ladies though.  So who’s the host well someone who knows about perfect matches he was the host of BET’s “106& Park” television show for about 11 straight seasons from (2001-2012) along with his co-host, Rocsi Diaz.

 

                Now Terrence J (Terrence Jenkins) has completely reinvented himself he is an actor, has started his own production company, and also has starred in quite a few films and television shows “The Game” (2011), “Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man” (2012), “Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man 2” (2014), “Baggage Claim” (2013), he was co-host of E News from (2012-2015), and just most recently “Perfect Match” (2016) starring Cassie Ventura, Donald Faison, Lauren London where he plays an advertising guru in charge of a company with major celebrity endorsements who falls in love with the beautiful, Cassie Ventura the rest of this film you have to see for yourself never like to disclose too much in films until I do a review usually.

So back to Coupled Up will be focused around a group of ladies who are on the prowl to find love similar to the Bachelor/Bachelorette concept but this time it’s all about the woman’s choice to choose who she wants to end up with on the show. I am pretty sure their host will know how to assist and play the role with this unique and colorful gang of people.                 Ariana Grande the pint sized singer with the incredible heavenly voice and range is back with her sophomore album titled, “Dangerous Woman”. She was asked why the unique title for her follow up album because she feels someone dangerous is fearless, confident, and sophisticated. She wants to embrace her dangerous and bad girl side she is someone who can accept a challenge. I love the titled track all ready and believe this could be Ariana’s best album to date. It is heading to music stores, Spotify, I Tunes and more on Friday-May 20, 2016.

                                I personally love this song and the title of the album it really hits home for me because every woman’s boyfriend/partner makes them feel dangerous, courageous, and they can free themselves from that person or when they are with them. You want to feel strong, confident, and they can help you with feeling even more comfortable within your own skin. She explained how and why the album received it’s title. She definitely showed that she is the real deal on her SNL special as well. She has the ability to put on a real show and entertain her fans. She is a true triple threat who can act, sing, and dance.

Kendall slaying the runway

One of my favorite Kardashians is Kendall she’s the first of the youngest of Jenner children from Kristin and (Caitlyn Jenner)  formerly, Bruce Jenner. She along with her youngest sister Kylie got her start on Keeping Up with Kardashians. Now I am spotting and seeing Kendall all over everywhere from magazines, television, and major ad campaigns. How did this sister actually go out spot on, find, and follow her dream. I would say having the right connections, having a mother who was her manager and another parent who has been very successful in her career as well past and present. Now she is front and center among the whole entire family walking down runways and shutting it down from Calvin Klein, Chanel, Estee Lauder, her very own Kendall & Kylie clothing line, and so many different campaigns.  I saw her on a large poster board in SoHo section of New York when I was downtown running some errands and behold she’s got the huge My Calvin’s advertisement poster.

                I even see people even wanting to emulate her style. Her style she likes a lot of bold slits, laces, deep plunges, dark and long dramatic gowns.  Also high stilettos, deep dark colors, she brings out her inner Scorpio like her mom, I  remember on the show her begging and pleading for Kris to allow her to assist her with her career as a model. Of course Kris wouldn’t let her kids down but to see her career take off soaring like a comet. It’s pretty amazing considering she was one of the shy sisters kind of behind the scenes. Kylie and she received plenty of attention for their crazy antics. She was one of the sisters on the show who was more low-key.  Now she is front and center and has definitely arrived. One thing I have to hand it to her despite the controversy, anything surrounding her family, she always maintains professionalism, dignity, and she is a leader in the sense of she won’t go along with something for the sake of her family

Grab your mama take her to go see "Mother's Day" debuts April 29,2016

 

I have a big confession my readers I am a huge Julia Roberts fan. If I had to sit in a room with all of my favorite actresses, have a beautiful lunch and buffet spread at one of my favorite restaurants in New York, California, or anywhere. I would choose to sit in a room with Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and a whole slew  of many actresses I can go on but Julia she’s up there. I would sit in the room and we would discuss life, how they have changed as the screen goddesses, become mothers, how they have changed in the film business themselves, their favorite things to do when not on set filming, issues that matter to them,  the red carpet how they manage the press, and where they see the film industry going in the remainder of the 21^st century globally.

I cannot believe how many movies of hers I have actually seen.   I love her versatility how she can transform into a character right away and become someone else. That’s what all actor/actresses do but there’s the physical process, the mental process, memorizing lines, scripts, developing a character. There’s a way to become a character vs. a real life human being. I have seen Julia become both remember her films, “Mystic Pizza” (1988), “Steel Magnolias” (1989), “Pretty Woman” (1990) “My Best Friend’s Wedding” (1997),”Stepmom” (1999), “The Pelican Brief”, “Runaway Bride” (1999), "Erin Brockovich" (2000) which she won a Golden Globe award for her performance as lawyer Erin Brockovich,“ Eat Pray Love” (2010), “Ocean’s Eleven series 1-3 (2004-2007), “Closer” (2005),Valentine’s Day (2010), and this time she teams up again with Garry Marshall her director in Pretty Woman again for Mother’s Day.  Julia will also be starring again with George Clooney in “Money Monster” playing another television producer when the show goes completely out of whack and wrong  All of these films you see her transform into this strong heroine. Now she will play Miranda a talk show host who is also a mother. The film is similar to Valentine’s Day focusing on multiple characters at one time throughout the period of Mother’s Day.

The film will also star Jennifer Aniston as “Sandy”: ( “Good Girl”, “Cake”,  “Friends” (1994-2004), Bruce Almighty”, “Horrible Bosses 1 and 2” ),   Kate Hudson (“How to lose a guy in 10 days”, “Almost Famous”, “Something Borrowed”, “Bride Wars”, “Nine”, and “Kungfu Panda”)  as “Jesse” , Timothy Olyphant, Jason Sudeikis, Hector Elizondo, Britt Robertson, and Jon Lovitz. So who doesn’t want to go take their mother, aunt, sisters, friends, grandmother, or great grandmother if you’re lucky to this good hearted film. I hope you will “Mother’s Day” comes out on April 29, 2016-Friday.

A very special shout out to “my film buff”, my former hairstylist, my friend, sister, the chef she makes the best fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, pineapple upside down cake, sweet potato pies, collard greens, baked beans, and ribs! (she is I swear my mother can predict any ending to any movie when we go together lol!)  my mother, Gina Renee Golden, for nearly thirty years, she who like all mothers where so many hats these days to survive in this busy changing and tough world she’s an account executive, business woman, and more. My grandmother Shirley “my favorite” model she 5’8” feisty when she wants to be, she is the one who pushed for me to get involved with President Obama’s election in 2012 and has inspired me to go on with Hillary’s for 2016, always believed I would be a well known writer (hmmm…how did she know?) ,she makes great catfish nuggets (It’s something they love in St. Louis my great-grandmother, Margie made them too), and she’s a handywoman she’s taught me a lot about taking care of problems at home. So to all the mothers who I know god bless and I hope you will cherish, embrace, celebrate your day.

Iggy is going to digitally distort you in June 2016

 

 

 

She rose on the scene with her platinum blonde hair, odd beauty model looks, 5’10” long legged frame, and her southern Miami hip hop accent she bursts on to the scene titling herself “I-G-G-Y”. She took a much needed break from her touring schedule, life has picked up full speed ahead for Iggy Azalea and now she will be fighting back against some of her competitors and the “haters” in this album. She has quite a challenging year dealing with planning  a wedding to her fiancé, Nick Young, writing, and producing this album, doing promotions, but she needed some time to step away and take a break.

She took a break from all social media and all content. Now this time her rap bars and lyrics will show you what she is really made of now. It’s interesting her title “Digital Distortion” because she took a break from the digital life for a while. She cut off her time on all social media not responding to criticism on her accounts.

                It’s interesting though that she would call her album this title. You talk about the digital life in terms of fans connecting with their fans via the internet. It’s an interesting time for celebrities to connect with their real life fans in an age where it’s instantaneous.  You can receive a close connection to your fans.  In the twentieth century, pre-social media age in the fifties, sixties, and so on. Fans would connect with their favorite artist through live performances on television. You would connect with them when they are on tour, when they would do a small or large performance. I have been fortunate to witness over 20 concerts, 25 Broadway shows, live performances (I am not lying I promise you…ask my friends and family). Either way back to Iggy so….What I am saying is we are fortunate to live in a age where a celebrity can respond to you in a matter of minutes. Now this where digital distortion comes in with a new generation of teenagers and twenty-somethings connecting with the hottest celebrity on the scene.

                So what does this have to do with Iggy, you have a Grammy nominated, American Music Award winner , and MTV Music Award Winner who has been through the dark side of social media. The ugly side of it although it may beneficial for an artist to gain promotion and marketing. There’s a cruel side to it that is often very hurtful, demeaning, and patronizing. It can affect someone’s image body image or their reputation how the world and they view themselves. We all know with the public and being a popular figure there comes a price to pay. What is shown to people on the internet, magazines, and television is one thing. All of these celebrities have to deal with the backlash of being constantly micro scoped (Maybe that should be her next album “Underneath the Microscope”  or “Behind that camera lens”.) My whole point is the constant scrutiny of being an artist takes a major toll on you physically and mentally. You are pinpointed for things that are out of your control too. Iggy had to deal with that within the last two years and even cancelled tour dates to give herself a break. All while her career was rising like a fortress. Now how does she gain back her audience and the masses of fans who listen to her music this time.

We will see with her sophomore project “Digital Distortion” which includes her first single, “Azillion” and “Team”. Expect some collaborations and some great music because remember fans this is the lady who brought you “I am so fancy….” So how can you deny her great music. Stay tuned Digital Distortion debuts on June…..2016, an upcoming tour, and I do believe wedding bells will be coming soon for this Australian beauty and her basketball player beau.

 Yes a lot can happen in a decade, hairstyles change, clothing changes, music, technology, and businesses too.  I know I am not the same person I was 10 years ago.  Now my readers I wonder how does a pop star change? How does a southern Texas little girl become a global superstar in a matter of two decades? I will explain to you how and then how she becomes a massive household name and can multitask like it is effortless. I remember in 2006, Beyonce released her sophomore album, “B’day”… I remember when her album was released I was in college at that time. I was about to start working for my college newspaper, “The Torch” (at Bergen Community College I was completing my associate’s degree in Journalism as a staff writer). I had just completed my very first article I wrote my first article about another R&B/Pop artist, Monica who I have loved since a child.  I had just met in her person actually I was at a listening party for her album, "The Makings of Me". She autographed a picture for me one of my big prize possessions. So 2006 was a big year for me. Also for this lady as well...

So when another one of my favorite R&B divas was coming out with oh a little project called, “B’Day” (she released it on Beyonce’s 25^th birthday September 4, 2006) when it came out believe me I didn’t realize this album would become the soundtrack of my life and so many college girls and twenty-somethings too. Her songs like “Déjà vu”, “Upgrade You”, “Get me bodied”, “Ring the Alarm”, “Freak’um Dress” (everyone got one!lol), and “Irreplaceable” (sang this song ironically to one of my exes)  were songs you can dance to, reflect on, you were empowered, and so much more. Her album is one I remember I still listen to it this day and I see the major growth from how she has matured from a twenty-something woman. I remember hearing how she was so nervous and shy to go solo. She was afraid to take that step. One thing I know for sure is sometimes surpassing your own fear can make you do some life-changing and great things. Her career was taking off and she had just come out with a clothing line “Dereon” and “House of Dereon” with her mother, Tina Knowles. I remember I bought so many clothes.

When I look at her first single, “Formation” I take it by three definitions of her song. I take the first definition of her forming into the artist and the woman she has become. A lot can happen in change in 10 years. From the time she was 25 in 2006 until now she has evolved completely. She has completely changed with five other albums (“I am…Sasha Fierce” (2008), “4” (2011), “Beyonce” (2013), and many Remix, movie soundtracks, and mixtape albums, under her belt her sixth  LP album you are guaranteed to see major change. She combined so much from funk, soul, ballads, R&B, rock elements, and jazz into her music. I would love to see Beyonce to a major collaboration with more older artists. A match-up between her and maybe Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, even Mariah Carey. As far as male artists I would love for Beyonce to do a funk hit with Earth, Wind, and Fire if possible. Or maybe a duet with someone like Maxwell or Trey Songz. The next definition for me you forming a line to show and strut your stuff to dance. The last definition of formation  how Beyonce came to be completely how she has formed herself and transformed herself into the pop & R&B superstar.

Two clothing lines under her belt: House of Dereon and now her athleisure clothing line “Ivy Park” inspired by her favorite park she loves to run and workout at in her hometown of Houston, Texas and her 4-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy the clothing which debuts on April 14, 2016 and hits Nordstrom Department stores.

                Now with many worldwide tours under her belt remember just two years ago she completed a four month tour worldwide with her husband, Jay-Z  for the “On The Run” tour and HBO special. Now she will go on tour again for Formation. Tell me how does this woman do it all? At the very same time she can maintain professionalism and remains to be extremely sweet, humble, and gracious to her fans, her team, and staff who are behind her completely since she first started.  I remember reading how she was so nervous about going solo. She was afraid to stand alone without her band members and other people. I wonder what would she tell herself 10 years ago after the success of “B’Day” she would probably say “Girl, you don’t know what you’re in for but it’s going to be a lot of fun ahead”.  Get ready though Beyhive the Queen Bey strikes back with a new album this summer 2016.
