The Mayor a young kid who is influenced by an aspiring hip
hop musician is discovered to become the mayor in his hometown, Fort Grey,
California he decides to run for mayor to promote his hip hop career to collect
and receive more notoriety. I do wonder could a younger person influence
society and become the mayor. Could someone with a younger point of view would
it be more helpful and beneficial to the community. We have mayors all around
our country and in different states who have a common goal let’s make change,
make a difference, give back to the community to give people what they really
need in their state whether that may be the infrastructure, education,
technology, health, and what would it do to give people a sense of change and
hope to make a difference.
For
example my mayor in New York City is Mayor William “Bill” De Blasio who has
made a major impact on the city. He really represents who we are as people and
the diverse melting pot city. He has a family who is a product of an
interracial relationship, and two biracial kids. This represents our country
during it’s current state and it’s an influence in society. He represents his
political party well and he tries to make an impact on all of our communities
within the five boroughs. Sometimes when we have mayors you can hear a backlash
too sometimes because they may not be as cutting edge, hip, or modern. It does
make you wonder if a younger person would be better in the seat as a mayor.
Often of course pop culture our society’s point of view of
how we conduct ourselves every day, how we should influence and help people. I
wonder would a younger person really make a difference today. Could their voice
give them a chance to do something that can change their community, reach out
to people, give back which is the most important thing too.
If
we had a younger mayor he can still be groomed for learning the role, he
wouldn’t be jaded, he or she wouldn’t be stuck or set in their ways, sticking
to conformity of what people expect of them. As opposed to creating a better
vision for themselves. Fiction often influences our perceptions of the world
and how we need to change and influence things. Maybe a younger male or female
as a mayor would be a phenomenal concept and idea for our community.
One
of the executive producers, had a major influence today with pop culture. Tony
award winner, he starred in the
2016 Broadway hit, “Hamilton”,
written by Lin Manuel Miranda. Daveed Diggs is one of the executive
producers of the show, “The Mayor”. He also stars on television hit and Emmy
award winning show on ABC, “Blackish”. I thought this was a genius idea he
comes from a family who has been influenced by music and obviously we know he
has the acting chops and skills to be apart of this show and offer a lot to the
concept of the show.
The Mayor stars, Lea Michelle, Broadway, television, and
film actress (“Les Miserables”,
“Ragtime”, “Cannonball”, “Louder”). Also the main character, Brandon
Michael Hall (“Cecile on the Phone”, “Search
Party”, ), and Yvette Nicole Brown (“New
Edition” series, “Ugly Truth”, “500 Days of Summer”, “Percy Jackson: Sea of
Monsters)
Now with an all star cast each who have an eclectic
background ABC will have another hit on their hands. The show does make you wonder how a younger kid could
influence change within his community maybe a fresh take can change our point
of view. Could we possibly have younger more diverse mayors in the future. For more information on the television
show visit http://www.abc.com.
