This film classic gets a reverse now let's find out "What do men really want?"

What Men Want debuts January 11, 2019
It’s that age old question what do men really want?  We ask ourselves as females probably every single day. What does he want if our relationships can get  complicated, confusing, and we need more questions answered. What need or desire is that he may need or want to obtain from me every single day. It may not even be affection, sex, or material possessions. It may just be simple things like support, organization, guidance, financial advice. It could be things he’s lacking in an area of his life that may require a woman’s experience, expertise, and advice. I believe sometimes men can get a little swept up with their day to day routines being the sole provider and you start to feel like “I just need a break….or perhaps I need someone to help me with different experiences and serious moments of life.” So we are going to get into the minds of men what are they dealing with on a daily basis. Men probably feel just as much pressure as women do feel daily. They often feel the need for being attractive to be in shape, the financial pressures, status, racial pressures and struggles, family, and other issues too. One popular theme that takes place in this movie is the battle of the sexes between co-workers and executives. How does have her voice heard in the workplace? Or get a chance to be acknowledged or celebrated too?
So in comes Taraji P. Henson’s character who similar to the 2000 “What Women Want” classic which starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt she plays an advertising executive. She is challenged by her coworkers and is instantly thrown into a position where she gets to hear what the opposite sex is really thinking of and what they need. She receives a gift to get literally into the inner thoughts of men and what they are thinking of too.
Taraji would be brilliant in this role we have seen her transform herself into roles that are diverse and she can go from a comedic role, romantic, and dramatic role on television and films on screen. She has the ability to be an amazing character actress it’s easy to see her separate the two characters. When she becomes a new character she studies, she’s meticulous and every detail of her characters from the way they dress, their voice, how they appear on screen, and even the way they interact with the other characters. She has a way of making them larger than life and memorable. I am sure she will do the same with this role. She knows how to connect to her audience in a role and they can see themselves in the role. Whether it is playing a matronly mother as she did in the Oscar winning performance of  “The curious case of Benjamin Button”, the feisty sassy young woman caught in a love triangle like, “Baby Boy”, the overworked hardworking business-woman looking for true love in “Think Like A Man” and “Think Like A Man Too”. Or the matriarch , the music lover, protector, the fighter, the owner, and jail survivor of “Empire”. Her roles show all of her capabilities and she can do the same in “What Men Want”.

The Bronx Bombshell, Jennifer Lopez will accept the Video Music Vanguard Award for 2018

MTV Video Music Awards Live Monday- 8.20.2018
Remember Anything and Everything can happen in one night at this show let's go MTV and Moonman!

I remember when I was a kid coming home everyday after school I used to watch a lot of music videos growing up MTV, BET, VH-1 these are networks are household staples to all of us. The children who grew up around the 1980s-2000s they know about music videos. How a music video in the early 1980s was a way to connect to your audience. People would sit and prepare to watch the videos with their families. Whether if that was watching Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Janet Jackson, The Beastie Boys, or any other group, musician, artist, or director who paved the way during that time to set a statement, to give someone an opportunity to express their abilities and themselves. You just knew this was one other way of an a recording artist or group to get a chance to express their creativity. Other than of course memorizing lyrics, I studied movements, dance moves, you would get ideas on the latest trends happening in fashion, pop culture, and so much more all from watching music videos. Videos are now not just showing an artist singing where you can see them. They have become these mini intricate films in a way, you get to see the visual part of a song, you get to see an artist transform himself or herself from singer, songwriter, into an actress, a dancer, and also see how they expand their message and brand. In the late 1990s and early 2000s videos became more magnified, more diverse, and even highly detailed. You can now transform viewers from a high tech website where your artist is dancing inside in the internet on your laptop let’s say and then take them into a funky outside nightclub. This recording artist has exemplified that you can do so much within a music video it’s no longer about the song, it’s about the message, the story, and most of all what you want to translate as a full fledge artist and musician.

I am talking about the 2018 Video Music Award recipient Jennifer Lynn Lopez. Along with her dancing skills we all know Jennifer evolved into an actress and came from a film background as well. She used her experience, her knowledge, her power, and skills. She put it all into her music videos from the moment she debuted her first single, “If you had my love” from her 1999 debut album, “On the 6” to now 9 albums deep she has proven herself within a career that expands 30 plus years. The Bronx Bombshell has evolved from Fly Girl on “In Living Color” and wears a multitude of hats that can make all of us want to lend her a hand. She has become a businesswoman, a brand, she promotes many different brands,  and also is one of the judges of “World of Dance” along with running a production company Nuyorican productions. I heard one of her fans ask her recently when the announcement was made “Jennifer when do you have time to sleep?” she confirmed “Yes, I take time from my schedule to sleep because it’s necessary to as well”. One of the hardest working women confirms that yes she does indeed sleep and takes time for herself. She enjoys the fruits of labor and enjoys everything. All while maintaining her humility, grace, her realness, and her poise. I am very influenced by people who can wear a lot of hats because it shows that there are no limitations on anything in life at all. You must simply find your strengths, find your passions, follow what just makes you happy, and of course make your vision become a reality. She along with many strong powerful women around the world show us all that you can do it all. Plus you can do it like that quote from Ginger Rogers says “I did it everything Fred Astaire did but backwards in heels”. Well if Ginger Rogers did that imagine what this woman can do and she wears Christian Louboutins heels when she’s dancing on stage. I know because I have seen her perform live transform from Timberland boots to high heels rocking the stage with all of her dancers, band, and team. It’s an amazing show her current “All I have “ tour which is wrapping up soon was definitely an era don’t want to forget. I am sure there will be many tours to come. This was a highlight because it shows you just powerful a woman can be. She’s able to take herself from role to role and does it all while never missing a single beat. So I have to hand it to this woman who with an incredible background still continues to amaze all of us around the world. Her drive is unstoppable and she is hands down a boss and is relentless. So congratulations to this amazing woman I am so proud and excited. Go Jlo!!!!!

Capturing what Love Is on screen new summer series in 2018 on OWN

You ever wonder what makes a relationship tick. What makes a couple have this incredible energy that even the people around them all the time can see it. That’s what this television series is all about. A young African American couple who’s relationship made them into a dynamic duo in the television, film, and production industry. Their relationship continues to grow and blossom not just personally but professionally. Their relationship has a strict balance of professional and business they know how to separate the two. I am talking about television and film producers, screenwriters, and directors, Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil. They both came out with a television series produced based on their love and relationship.
There was something about the series that instantly attracted and drew me in. especially how they flash forward to the future of their relationship status then document it along the way. I love this story this is what we need right now because you have to love the passion, their friendship, and how they comfort one another too. They are in their early twenties in the beginning of the series it’s circa 1997 which is an incredible time and period when it comes to pop culture, music, fashion, and television too. There was a great period of music you can use in this series for different segments.  The music and series connects right away to that time period. It takes you back there right away.
I hope you all are tuning into this television series it’s inspiring couples all over the world. The show stars introducing new actor and actress, Michelle Weaver(Cheater, Cheater, Illicit, Sister Code) William Catlett(Left For Dead) are playing the protagonists and real life couple, Mara and Salim., Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing, Clarke Peters("The Wire", "Treme"," Marley & Me", "The Corner", "Notting Hill",  "Red Hook Summer", "Freedomland", "The Divide", and "Three Billboards"), Kadeem Hardison (A Different World, "KC Undercover", "Made of Honor", "The Sixth Man", "White Men Can't Jump", "Vampire in Brooklyn) , Tammy Townsend ("GrownUps", "Boy Bye
, "Love Chronicles", "Daddy’s Home", "Be Somebody", and "Family Matters"), and Wendy Davis ("Army Wives", "Mother Ghost").

Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil producers, screenwriters, and directors of  many hit television shows and films.

I hope all of you will be tuning in to watch this show on OWN and who better to have her magic dust to blow on this television series than the fairy godmother herself, Oprah Winfrey. Visit http://www.owntv.ca
