She’s one of my biggest influences
growing up this shy, cool reserved, born Brooklynite, and Detroit native,
Aaliyah Dana Haughton was an incredible entertainer, actress, dancer, and her
legacy continues on with the MAC Cosmetics collection to debut this June. It
has been a project in the making for a long time, first Selena Quintanilla the
Tejano Mexican singer her collection debuted and fans were like “Wait a minute
if she gets one then what about Aaliyah?” They actually got out there and
fought hard to get her collections made and pushed almost about to cause a
petition to get it made.
So it seems behind the scenes
Aaliyah’s family agreed with this and was excited about making this happen for
their talented daughter. If she were still here this probably would have happen
anyway. So now that her collection arrives it will come in cool futuristic
Burgundy packaging she gets her own shade and color of lipstick as well.
I have to hand it to her because
Aaliyah’s make up artists and team kept her on point for every photo shoot,
music video, movie, promotion event, and award show. You saw her make up was
flawless, and absolutely gorgeous. One thing you will notice on her third
self-titled album, “Aaliyah” her look was very modern, futuristic contemporary.
There were no bright neon colors it was a lot of cool deep reds, bright
oranges, mauves, burgundy colors, nude colors. They matched her wardrobe and
costumes while performing and also suited her
cafe au lait complexion, her style, and her
classy essence. Remember her videos like, “We need a resolution”, “I miss you”
video, “Try Again” you will see her most flawless make up looks.

I am sure with this new collection
coming out everyone especially a lot of hip hop and R&B fans will be
running to every MAC Store around the country to buy her collection. Get ready
MAC Cosmetics sales team cause you’re about to see sell outs in a big way this
summer. I have seen so many collections and love doing these stories cause on a
personal level my mom and I we have both been fans I think since the late 90s
/early 2000s. I became more interested in MAC as I have learned to switch up my
look, especially during the spring/summer and fall/winter months your skin tone
changes a lot on the East Coast so you have to look for make up that suits your
complexion and regimen too.
