"Too much Chloe" (Part One)

All right I love my name and I hope you all do too.  My wonderful great readers, you all have a special place in my heart to you I am not “Chloe” to you all. I am "Honey Brown Sugar" the young woman around town writing, finding searching interesting entertaining stories for you and talking about my crazy ever-changing life. However lately I have been noticing my name getting a lot of recognition around different places, it is a coincidence to me not really, and it’s something I have been aware of especially in the last 10 years actually.  The popularity has increased greatly especially in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It has made me even more proud especially when I was a child having my name called in the classroom was often difficult for people to pronounce. Some would call me “Chelsea”, “Chovis”, “Corey”, “Courtney”,  “Chloris”, "Clovis" or even “Chello”.  Meeting new people and they would have trouble pronouncing it they couldn’t say it sometimes. I think that’s part of the reason why I may have come up with nicknames actually.

Chloe's soft serve haven't tried it yet but excited to stop by and see the people. I'll probably get a whole pint =)  The soft serve ice cream is actually vegan.

Love the campaign. for the wine suits me and the wine is actually good =) I have promoted it and sampled it personally.

The perfume still a classic and now there's Chloe Love Story

My name would be mispronounced and often misspelled as well saying “Cho-lee”.  I would be a bit disappointed on having such a unique name. I often felt proud too. No my name is “Chloe”. I even had a famous R&B music group it was IMX (formerly Immature) once signed a picture and autographed the photo writing “Clowiz” that would be pronounced as “Clo-weez”.  Of course I still took the photo and poster but just felt bad cause they misspelled it. Apparently today people still do.  If you spell my name today I am very proud and happy cause it means you have got it right. I am going to give you the American pronunciation of my name is Chloe (Chlo-wee) it has two syllables and think of the periodic element “Chlorine”. That’s basically how you would say name except taking out the “R-I-N” of the word.

All right you probably want to know first how did I get my name. My parents my mother, Gina chose the name Chloe because it means “pure-hearted” she once told me. I never found that meaning but it definitely is one of my favorite meanings though. The other meanings of my name are “Green shoot” in Greek as to say a young blooming flower. It is an epithet of the Greek goddess Demeter. It has been used in Ravel’s story “Chloe & Daphnis”.   Another meaning I once found was “Young woman of God”. I fell in love with that meaning too. As a young woman who grew up in Catholic school. It does mean a lot to me. I respect and always have faith in God.
Paul as one of his epistles in the New Testament also mentions the name “Chloe” in the bible. You can find my name in the book of Corinthians chapter 1 verse 11.  In the United States my name has been ranked #14, #6 in Canada, #4 in Australia, #3 in France (That one I am surprised but because of the clothing line I can see why. More about that later.) It has been getting some really good reviews and I can proudly say now “Thank you mom and dad for giving me that name”.  I promise my unborn and future babies you will all have different, unique, special names full of meaning and promise.  That will be easy to pronounce and you will have cool nicknames too. One of my family nicknames is “Chlo-Chlo”. That is my childhood nickname since about age 2 or 3 probably.  Now my name gained some popularity over the late 1990s do you remember the television show,”Sabrina the Teenaged Witch” the animated series featured an African American character whose name was Chloe for me that’s when it began.  I really began to notice it often when people tell me even to this day. “I know that name I know I have seen that name. Oh right the perfume Chloe”.  My late grandmother Carlene even bought the perfume. She would keep a bottle of it on her dresser when I was a very small girl. Yes there is a light fragrant perfume that comes in several variations that is still very popular today.  There is “Chloe”, “Chloe Narcisse”, “Chloe Love Story” It is connected to the clothing line “Chloe” which was found in 1970s it has feminine, ethereal, modern clothing. I have always wanted a Chloe bag myself they were popular with these Paddington handbags with the signature lock on the front. I even remember wanting one of those bags so bad. Feeling like “Hey they took my name”. Today I am proud believe me I love my name being part of a million dollar fashion industry that is being bought today and it is still popular. It is even in a song called, “(Give it to me) I just want to love you” by Jay-Z and Pharrell released in 2000. He spits the bars of saying “ What do you say me, you, and your Chloe glasses go somewhere to discuss fashion like Prada blouse, Gucci bra, Filth Mart jeans…” Now when your name is in a popular hip-hop song it’s over. You know that you have arrived! That really did boost my self-esteem a lot even more back then.
Now let’s say 14 years later in 2014 there’s a winery that decides to release a new spirit (wine) out in Sonoma, California called “Chloe”. I was doing a marketing promotion for I signed with the Hart Agency in March of 2013. I started officially with them in May of 2014 it took a while due to management changes that’s another story.
Now I started with The Hart Agency for the first time and my job surprised me with the wine company’s brand new Chloe collection featuring a Chardonnay, a red merlot and Pinot Grigio.  You can visit http://www.chloewine.com. I just found out recently this month in May at a local store that sells and carries the brand they were sold out of the Chloe wine. Am I proud hell yes! That makes me excited to know that my name definitely will continue on. It’s a powerful feeling and it after all of those years of having a name that may be challenging to some it’s nice to know my name is selling and doing well in different branches and areas.
I fell in love with in instantly; yes I did sample and tried it as well. I also posed with the picture of the poster’s billboards as well. Now that’s when I knew all right we’re on to something now. I found out also that my name has several nightclubs and restaurants too two located in lower Manhattan and one in Brooklyn. I love when I see the way they can turn and build a brand around your name. The kind of image you want to have associated with the name. I found a night club called “Chloe” and “Chloe 81” I love the nightclub all ready (it’s beautiful!) and have checked it out of course I would love to see it in person and will this spring and summer. It’s here in New York City (my birth place and where I live now) so what better way to celebrate for the summer very soon one day. The next place I found out about was a restaurant as well. So these places I will be visiting and checking out personally. I am very excited to do this story cause it’s going to be a whole lot of fun. It makes me feel proud and reminds me it’s all right if they messed up my name. It has been seen in lights literally. There are several movies “Chloe” (2010) a thriller starring Amanda Seyfried and 2015 Oscar winner, Julianne Moore.  So now that you all have learned about my namesake, why it means a lot to me, why now I can be all right with my name, the meaning, I say it proudly and not am shy or afraid to say it. So “Say my name, say my name”…you know I had to do that right lol!  Oh just the other day June 2, 2015 in the afternoon I was at the dentist getting my first annual cleaning  (wanted to make sure the pearly whites are ready for my friends’ wedding) and the receptionist kept calling me “Cho-le” my name almost sounding like an Asian name like
“Ms. Cho Lee” I had to correct her and someone I know accidentally misspelled my name recently. So when I tell you this I truly am telling you the truth. It still happens. People be proud of your name always and correct them. There’s only one of you. Try to be the best version and your true self always.
Oh and here are some famous Chloe’s and characters you have seen who you should knowand some you are all ready know.
