Zendaya Coleman will play R&B hip hop princess, Aaliyah: More than a woman film coming this fall

“Aaliyah: More than a woman” Biopic
Written by: Chloe Riccardo
"More Than A Woman" written by: Christopher John Farley (December 2001)
Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 16, 1979 later moved to Detroit, Michigan, she was discovered first on stage as a child, and later appeared on Star Search as well, she was destined to be a star her mother chose the name, which is Arabic and means “highest, most exalted one” she definitely accomplished so many things in 22 years that for sure especially during her time. I remember the first time I saw her actually on screen. I was about eight years old when Aaliyah came on the scene in 1994. She had linked up with R&B songwriter and singer, R.Kelly.  I look at my small television screen it was sitting on top of my dresser in my childhood bedroom in Washington, D.C.. I see this pretty coffee with cream- colored skin young woman, she had long dark brown hair, almond - shaped eyes. She’s dancing and sitting next to R. Kelly in the video in a baggy track- suit. I was probably watching BET at the time in my room, cleaning or just in my room relaxing. I saw her and I wanted to be just like her instantly. She had an angelic voice, I remember one detail sticks out in my mind how BET’s producers phonetically wrote (aa-lee-ah) next to her name. So you knew okay let’s get this young lady’s name right. Glad they did that’s not a name you can easily let slip your brain.
I never knew that the young lady on my screen would become someone I was going to admire, respect, try to emulate, her style, her personality, her class. Aaliyah had it believe me, she was the valedictorian when she graduated from high school, had the sweetest personality people often said you saw it every time she spoke, her soft-spoken voice, her shyness, how she carried herself, I saw her in concert once, I did buy the albums: “Age Ain’t Nothing but a number”, “One in A Million”, “Aaliyah”, “Care 4 You”, we played “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number” several times in my mom’s car I remember she bought the tape.  I learned all of the words to “Back and Forth”, “At Your Best (You Are Loved)”. We used to dance around the house my cousins and I to her songs. So she really was like one of the people who sang along to the soundtrack of our lives at that time.  I grew up with her from age 8 to age 15 singing along to her songs.  I still sing along all the time now as an adult.  I treasure her because I know she really was an amazing young woman who touched many people celebrity or non-celebrity lives. I have to tell you now looking back there’s so many memories of her that are imprinted, when “One In A Million” came out, “Hot Like Fire”, she had so many hit records that would just hit and touch your heart. I think my favorite album has to be her last one was the one that hit me the most. I think we all wanted to be like her especially when she crossed over from her tomboy- baggy jean style and became this lady wearing heels, developing her style, she was tough but she had this incredible fearlessness. You saw a sweet sensitive side to her personality but also she could kick your behind and melt your heart all at the same time.
I think she displayed that in her videos like “If you’re girl only knew”, “More than a woman”, and “Try Again”. You saw her dancing ability and just everything about her made you want to be just like her, she used to do this belly roll where you dip and drop your hips and roll. I always tried to master that dance, there’s so much I think many young ladies tried to copy her style, her long swoop bang that would cover her beautiful right eye. It was just a mysterious thing, she wasn’t ostentatious, elaborate, or boastful. She was like a smooth glass of lemonade, bubbly, sweet, refreshing, and just pleasant actually. You have the strong sense she loved family, she was very close to her older brother, Rashad Haughton, and her family. I instantly picked up on that quickly watching all of her video specials, her films, and just following her craft. I saw her once in concert I believe in 2000 at Hot 97’s summer jam concert. That was the only time but I am glad I had the chance before she passed to see her, to remember everything about her as an artist. I had put her picture on my wall in my room from a VIBE Magazine March 2001 (she was also later featured on the cover again as a tribute special magazine dedicated to her in Fall of 2001)  as a teenager, you know you are proud of the people you look up to and you respect.  For me and others who admire, respect, and people are inspired by different musicians, singers, and actors especially their talents and abilities. We all know she later passed away with her crew members August 25, 2001 in Marsh, Bahamas she was 22 years old. She left but she left us all at the top of her game and music success though.
One thing I think she probably wanted the most was to continue being a triple threat, she accomplished as an artist, singer, actress, and dancer. If she were here now I believe she would have produced and made some amazing films, she would have probably done some choreographing as well I am sure. The one thing people do need to know her story, there are so many elements to it, how you should strive for your dream, accomplish it, follow your passion, know your passion, also to always strive, the controversy, the mysterious parts of her, who she was a young woman, the story we didn’t know about her as well behind the scenes. I don't think there's anything much we would find out about her that would disappointing. She never had a dark demeanor or presence. She was bright, bubbly, sweet, and most of her audiences just gravitated towards her all of the time.
Zendaya Coleman will play Aaliyah this coming fall in Lifetime produced film.
Romeo Must Die starring Aaliyah and Jet Li (2000) loved the soundtrack
One thing I love is who they chose as lead for playing Aaliyah they chose for the film coming this fall, "More Than A Woman" is based off of Christopher John Farley's "More than a woman" (December 2001). They chose Disney star & "Dancing with the Stars" veteran, Zendaya Coleman to play her in the film. She is a gifted dancer, she has the grace, style, she can sing, and she also acts as well. You will see her capture the essence of Aaliyah she can glide, slide, do some acrobatic moves, and also incorporated some belly dancing into her moves as well.  Her choreographer/friend, Fatima Robinson most likely will work with her on the moves as well I am very You will see her capture all of it. I am looking forward to seeing them show the life and times of "Babygirl" as producers, Timbaland & Missy called her as well.  The fans have been waiting a long time for this film to be made especially after others like "Why do fools fall in love" the Frankie Lyman story, "What's love got to do with it?" Tina Turner's story, or The Temptations, or TLC's "Crazy, Sexy, Cool" story. You want it to be accurate and truthful to the story, and truthful to the person's life as well. Looking forward to it this fall and I will have the official trailer posted for you all but in the mean time enjoy some of these Aaliyah hit songs.  Visit http://www.aaliyah.com for more information as well.

They're Back!!!! ready ladies? "Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man Too"

Hello readers!!!! Now back to fun!  Are you all ready? Ready for part two of one of the hottest romantic comedies is coming back to theaters on June 20, 2014. Think Like A Man Too is coming back to theaters very excited! Loved the first film because it was based off of Steve Harvey's 2008 Best selling book "Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man" love/romance advice for everyone.  I loved how they did the story line now we get to see where the cast  has left off and its perfect timing because it is still fresh in our memories. 2012's first film was a hit and did very well at the movie box office. The cast do you remember, Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Meagan Good,  Alani "Lala" Vasquez- Anthony,  Jenifer Lewis, and Wendy Williams-Hunter (television show host/radio personality/author) all were in the film as well as their fellow male castmates, Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Dennis Haysbert, Terrence "Terrence J" Jenkins (former 106 & Park Host, E! News correspondent!), Romany Malco, Gary Owen, and many other well known faces are in this movie. It's going to be hilarious I am sure just with the trailer alone, you can tell they have taken the comedy level and kicked it up a notch or two. This time the cast is in sin city, one of my favorite places, Las Vegas, getting their party on celebrating. A whole lot of shenanigans happen in this happen with this crazy line up and cast. Don't want to give too much away but you have to see the film and I will of course review it when it comes out.

So are you going this summer it's the day before the 1st of summer when it all kicks off and you can enjoy the second part of this series and film. I am looking forward to it always because I am an avid Steve Harvey watcher, love his show, its like a visual love bible coming on 3pm E.S.T on NBC networks here in New York. Make sure you check your local listings from where you are on the planet as well.  He has done so much for many couples across the country with his advice, improving relationships, long-term, short-term, and some people who haven't seen each other in decades and years. He has shown a whole different dynamic of class, respect, and showing young and older men how to be respectful, forthcoming but not aggressive, how to have confidence as well. The message usually comes out with his television shows though. You have to watch and go save your money to see one of the big hilarious, "Rom-Coms" of the summer. Take your friends, family, and of course keep a look out for his show. Visit http://www.steveharveytv.com for more information on his show, books, and more. Now for you my dear readers here is the trailer for "Think Like A Man Too" and a promo video from Kevin Hart talking about the cast and film as well. Now some of you probably forgot what happened the first one make sure you brush up and review it again in case you forgot the first one or didn't see it either. I will see you all around soon of course!!!

"Lessons learned from my favorite ladies"

In honor of Mother's day I have a personal confession to make right now.....I am going through one of the hardest times in my young adult life. I have been hiding it because I have been in the become a soldier for life boot camp for the past weeks I feel. I have been working, writing, traveling but I had to travel to go see one of my favorite ladies. My grandmother, Carlene, and my great-grandmother, Margie have both been sick for the past year or less. I haven't been able to really talk about it except for with family, with my growth group at my church (yes Honey Brown Sugar goes to church I am not all party girl believe me God always come first believe me and our relationship is getting better lol!). I am trying to remember the first time I saw my great-grandmother or my grandma. My grandma Carlene I. Dubard was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 9, 1928 she was raised with her brother Jewell, (he passed in March of 2011), and moved to Brooklyn, New York when she was 19 years old for a new and better life.
My great-grandmother, Margie, She strikes a pose with her flowers and gifts in her Crystalettes shirt June 2012 I got her the pink flowers lol!

Kissing my great-grandmother, Margie at her old house the weekend of   her 90th birthday party June 2012

My grandma Carlene with my father's dog, bichon frise, Lover  taken 2014

My grandmother Carlene in the 1940s

My great-grandmother, Margie with her mother, Bessie in a nightclub summer 1940

Obviously she  met me as an infant . She met me right when I was at the hospital in the incubator as a preemie in November of 1986. I didn't realize how much of an influence she really would have on me though. In a lot of ways just being a lady. She taught me you can be strong, you can be confident, I used to be shy around her, but she taught me so much, just spoiled me rotten purses, jewelry, perfume, and she took helped me with some of my trips as well. She had grown up with boys, 1 brother, and raised three boys my uncle Juan, who I have written about in the past (he passed in November of 2011), my father, Jewel, (she named my father after her brother, and my mom gave me the name as my middle name), and my uncle Andrei (he passed in April of 1995). I admire her because she raised them mostly on her own. She was married but she did the work trust me, she went to college, always believed in education,  she became a nurse and worked for about 35 years retired in 1990. but she would get in the ring whenever you had some kind of serious battle or obstacle. That's just how she was and I admire her strength, her honesty, how she can crack any joke and make you laugh too.  I love when she curses lol! A grandma with sass and profanity funny recipe.

The biggest lesson I learned from her was I believe you have to stick with your family no matter what the situation has been, if it's difficult and tough, continue on, keep finding a way to fight for your family, and being able to enjoy yourself as well. I have had so many fun experiences with her, shopping, yes she's the one who I got the shopping gene from actually. My grandmother can stay in a mall for 3 hours or more when I was kid, so trust me I know. We shopped a lot when I was a kid. I saw her recently just a couple days ago, and seeing her helpless, not being able to walk, move, it's tough, when you have grown up with someone who has had the ability to move, who worked long hours, who can travel up and down stairs. It was one of the hardest things I could ever watch and go through last week.

My great-grandmother, Margie Catherine Wall Joplin Gillespie she was born in St. Louis, Missouri, she was born on June 16, 1922 to her mother Bessie,  she raised five children two girls, my grandmother, Shirley, my great aunt Marie, my great uncles: Alan, Jessie, and Michael. I can tell you seeing how she raised all five children, she worked as a postal worker, she has seen the world traveled, been married, partied, she loved, she taught me a lot, I stayed with mama Margie as a little girl in St. Louis during the summer, I met her when I was about one I believe. My mom brought me down, she threw my mother's reception for her wedding, when my parents were married back in 1983 (later divorced in 1995). Her last husband walked my mother down the aisle, he and I his name was Marion we were very close. I still remember him forever. He would yell and call her "Marge!!!" and she would answer sweetly, "Yes Marion!". They were the cutest when they were together. He was crazy about her trust me.  I remember I asked him once to kiss her and he did. It was adorable. They were married about 25 plus years.

So she has been a part of my life, she believed in me, she told me Chloe you're going to be a star when I was little. My funniest memory of her she made me stand up when I was a little girl in the church during the visitor announcements. Me going through her jewelry, seeing her many photos, I thank god for all of those memories, they are precious, rare, and beautiful etched in my mind forever. They remind me it was all real, it was something that I needed to remember. I thank you for teaching me patience, teaching me about enjoyment, about beauty, how to treat yourself as well. I remember those mornings seeing her watch Matlock, going to dance with the Crystalettes, how she was apart of her community, how she told me she was shy, I didn't believe it but she was though. I think she reminded me you can find love, you can find joy, you can live a long life, and take care of yourself. How important it is to give to people it's a blessing.  I just truly thank god for these ladies and the lessons learned that came with every moment spent with them, and I will cherish it save my stories for my children, and share them.

Update- for Inside the world- My great-grandmother and my grandmother both passed away after I made this post. God called them both home in the same week. My grandmother Carlene passed on May 18, 2014 Sunday morning at 3:45 in the morning. She had suffered from respiratory failure, fell into a coma, she was taken off of life support and passed. My brother, Daheed and father were both with her at the time. I know she is in a much better place at this time but will truly be missed though. It's as if i can't erase her though.
My great-grandmother, Margie passed first May 14, 2014 I was at work at the time when it happened and she passed from natural causes she was 91 years old soon to be 92. This weekend will be her service. I ask you both to cherish every single loved one you have and definitely your grandparents if you are fortunate, and if your truly blessed your great-grandparents as well. They will be missed and I will carry a piece of them with me every single day. Love you both the service was beautiful and I attended on May 22, 2014 with my family in St. Louis, Missouri.

Oh no it's The Other Woman, The film coming this April 25th

Hello My Readers!!!! The Other Woman is coming to movie theaters this spring worldwide starring the beautiful and talented, Cameron Diaz ("The Mask", "Charlie's Angels", "My Sister's Keeper", "There's something about Mary"), Leslie Mann ( "Knocked Up", "Big Daddy", ), mega conglomerate singer, fashion designer, and now actress, Nicki Minaj, and Sports Illustrated model now actress, Kate Upton on April 25, 2014 Friday.
The Other Woman humph who does she think she is right? She's stealing my significant other, my boo, my husband/my wife, my girlfriend/boyfriend my baby, etc. I am saying that because technically you have to be open to all kinds of relationships now a days. I know the movie is titled "The Other Woman" but there are many cases of "The Other Man" too you know what I am talking about ladies hahahaha!!!! Thought I would side only with the females nope I know some people can be guilty of committing that love crime on both sides. So let's discuss the "Other Woman" for a minute I am going to cover all aspects in different scenarios. First from her side/ Then the opposite side/and then we'll go into the scenarios.

Okay the other woman can come in all different forms, I am not trying to scare anyone but it's just something to be conscientious of in your relationships. She may be your neighbor, she can be your classmate (this applies to college students undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students), she can be the girl at the checkout counter, the lady who comes to walk your dogs, your co-worker (uh oh), your banker, your lawyer, your accountant, or even your professor (now for some people that's just wrong come on now you know you shouldn't be doing that), she can be right in your family too, you never know but let's just put it this way. The Other Woman has a reputation for being "the homewrecker" when it comes to a marital affair for example.  She can intervene and cause havoc. She wants to be competitive against you,  If she's a sane, normal individual when she finds out that he's been cheating she will back out. Now if she's crazy, psycho, and has some screws loose, lol!!! She may stay hooked on this person and either stalk or intervene in the relationship until she gets what she wants. That's crazy and will cause problems for everyone. The Other Woman comes from all walks of life you will be surprised. You're all wondering have you ever been the "other woman" Honey Brown Sugar. Lol...I can tell you this if I was someone was clever enough to hide it. That's all I will say.

Now if she's just naive and just let's just say it not that bright, she needs to have someone sit down with her and realize honey he/she is taken and they don't want to be involved with you at the moment. It's unfortunate but you have to accept it. You have to realize there is something so much better out there for you, and he really does exist believe me. It just takes a lot of time to get to a better person.

The official trailer for "The Other Woman"

Now I will tell you the main chick's Who is the Main chick?  (the wife, "the wifey", your fiancee, your steady girlfriend) here is her  perspective you invested your time, your patience, you put all this money, love, focus, attention,  into the relationship, and your heart broken to know he/she is cheating on you. Your upset because he/she was inconsiderate, he/she was unfaithful, he/she didn't come to you honestly, and just say "I am not happy", "I need more", "You aren't giving me what I want". That's what it really is about, you are not being fulfilled emotionally, physically, mentally, intellectually, and you haven't had a chance to really think what is this person not giving me to be fulfilled.  So  now you know the view from the woman who has been on both ends you have to realize that it's not fair to anyone at all. No one wants to be hurt period but you have to remember that at the end of the day it's not fair at all. We all experience the hurt but let me put it to you this way, the only time you should be the other woman is when it's a shock, not by choice, that speaks volumes of who you are as a person, like I really don't give a ______ period. Now who wants to be that woman not I. I would never want to hurt my significant other either. Too much pain, tears, drama it's not worth it. It's better to fight over something silly, than another human being. Especially when they are intentionally trying to hurt you, your family, and everyone else important to you. So my friends are you going to see "The Other Woman" I will because hey it's a lesson to be learned in this film, and it looks hilarious, funny, as well with a great cast. So ladies take your friends, grab your moms, (mother's day is coming up), your sisters, your grandmas (hey they have been there too), your aunties, and go see "The Other Woman" this spring, and ladies please be smart pay attention to the signs and use your brains you know better. Stay classy =) and all the best to you and yours.

Just an update as of May 12th it's been a couple of weeks and all ready they have grossed 9.6 Million at the box office congratulations ladies, the cast, crew, and production team, cannot wait to see the film myself.

You have to play the game in order to find love- read "The Love Playbook" by Lala Anthony

Finally a book for the ladies written by a young lady who gives her perspective and view on how ladies should conduct themselves in relationships whether long-term, short-term, married, engaged, and so on. I actually feel really comfortable taking advice from her because she's not only smart,  business-savvy, she's driven, motivated, sophisticated, and stylish. Plus she's a born New Yorker (like me lol). I am talking about Alani "LaLa" Vasquez-Anthony .

Wendy wants to swoon you with "Hold Me in Contempt" this spring

Ah spring love is the in air  just in time to enjoy this novel that my girl, Wendy Williams wrote. I watch her show avidly whenever I am home, I have a break from work, on vacation, on holiday, I try to stay updated because I definitely support her and I am behind her for what she has done for the "Honey Brown Sugar" girls around the world, and women in media and communications period. I have read Wendy's books in the past, remember "Wendy Brings the Heat" which was part autobiography, part business about the radio industry, and part how to break in if you want to be a radio personality/media personality.  I have even promoted her once during college for a friend's magazine called, Fashion Fetish. He was trying to start a magazine on campus and needed writers. He was familiar with her and asked would I cover her story. Absolutely, she and I actually know some of the same people in a way. So we're kind of connected in a way and of course I used to blast her show "The Wendy Williams Experience" on WBLS 107.5 Radio station on its speakers.  So yes I had to write her story. I loved it so did my parents. I wish I still had a copy of the magazine but I am glad it's in good hands now.

So now that she is taking a new path down the romance aisle, I want to know how the 5'11" Glamorous New Jersey native and diva feels about romance and how she penned the novel, also her take on the two lead characters. I am very excited and cannot wait to sit and read this book. I am looking forward to buying it and diving into the world of the lead characters, Kimberly Kind and King fall in love in this story. Should be scandalous darling!

So for my Wendy fans and viewers hope you all will be diving into the world of romance with your copy, you can order online at http://www.amazon.com, visit http://www.barnesandnoble.com, or visit your local bookstore around and check it out. Cannot wait to read.
It hits stores this spring on April 15, 2014. Just in time for you to get your tax refunds and go buy! Just kidding. Hope you will enjoy and also tune into her show weekdays on FOX/UPN networks  here in thet tri-state (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut)  or check your local listings wherever you are around the world cause now she's global and "How you doin'?" Also make sure you follow her on twitter @WendyWilliams, Facebook, and Instagram too. Kim and Kanye's Vogue cover debut (April 2014)

Hello my readers wow I have missed you all whoever supports "Honey Brown Sugar" makes her extremely happy. There is so much to talk about believe me.

Above video watch the Kim and Kanye proposal

Uh oh honey....lol! just kidding a reference from Kanye's chorus from his song, "Bound 2" remember that video. I am sure all of you do.  I am relieved, excited  to see Kim Kardashian and Kanye West gracing the front of the cover for the April 2014 issue of Vogue. It is well deserved so many people have been naysayers with their negativity and comments because of their pasts and their lives in reality television.  Keep in mind Kim is a boss, a business woman, a brand, and most of all one of the sweetest people. She may not have traditional talent in the Hollywood sense. She has model looks, business-savvy, creativity, and over 5 different business ventures from shoe dazzle, her perfumes, clothing lines, the television series, and more. Kanye has business ventures, clothing lines, and other creative and innovative ideas to expand his brand. He writes, produces, tours, and he's stylish in his own Kreative and Kanye way. So honestly when you think about it in reality. Yes Anna Wintour she chose wisely!

The cover of the magazine is stunning with Kim standing in front of Kanye in a beautiful sweetheart, full length ballroom wedding gown. The two lovebirds and their beautiful, little one baby, North or "Nori" will become  a family officially and legally on May 24, 2014 this spring. Kanye proposed during this fall and the episode aired on "Keeping up with the Kardashians" in a stunning, dramatic, and theatrical proposal at the AT&T Stadium Park in San Francisco, California on Kim's 33rd birthday (Oct. 21st) the whole family except Bruce Jenner was there but he was informed right away. There was first a performance with a live orchestra on stage before the groom to be made his way to the bride. The family was in total silence as Kanye walked over and made his way with the stunning emerald cut 15 carat diamond ring.

I love the message the magazine is sending to the masses it doesn't matter which walk of life you come from, you can aspire to be what you want, you can love whoever you want no matter what their color, complexion, ethnicity, social status, or anything from their past. In the end true love and friendship conquers all. These two have known each other over 10 years now and were just really good friends despite having their own personal lives. So for Kanye and Kim both it looks like America, the universe, and little girls have something to aspire to you can kiss a lot of frogs and when you wait patiently, believing, and fighting for love you can get your Prince Charming.  The magazine hits newsstands in April but you can see it in advance at http://www.vogue.com and watch Keeping up with the Kardashians on Sunday Nights on the E! Channel.

Yes he put a ring on it! =)

The flawless stunning 15 carat diamond ring it's like an iceberg!
